Venezuela to have new Time zone from January 2008.

Caracas, Aug 20th (ABN).- From next January 1st, 2008, the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela will have a new time zone that will allow to improve the Venezuelans’ performance on their daily activities.
The information was given by the Minister of People’s Power for Science and Technology, Héctor Navarro, during President Chávez’ weekly TV program Aló, Presidente (Hello President), held on Sunday at the cultural complex Teresa Carreño Theater, in Caracas.
He explained that 30 minutes will be added to the current hour. When the Venezuelans wake up, the sun’s rays will be illuminating the day.
According to Navarro, «It is a metabolic effect in which the human brain is conditional on the sun’s rays,» so the new time zone will improve the Venezuelans’ performance in their activities.
«The new time zone will allow that the Venezuelans take advantage of 30 minutes of sun’s rays. The children that go to school in the morning will not to have breakfast when the sun’s rays are not illuminating the country,» the Minister said.
He pointed out that the new time zone of Venezuela will be determined by meridian 66 (Río Chico meridian), which cross the national territory, passing through the half of the country.
Furthermore, Navarro said that it will be necessary to change the Meteorology Law, in which Venezuela has four hours ahead ("behind"- correction by worldtimezone.com) of the international hour established by the Greenwich Meridian (meridian 0) to change it 4,5 hours ahead
("behind"- correction by worldtimezone.com) of the Greenwich mean Time.

Venezuela tendrá nuevo huso horario a partir de enero de 2008.
Caracas, 19 Ago. ABN.- A partir del 1 de enero de 2008, la República Bolivariana de Venezuela tendrá un nuevo huso horario que le permitirá mejorar el rendimiento de los venezolanos en sus actividades diarias.
Así lo expresó el ministro del Poder Popular para la Ciencia y la Tecnología, Héctor Navarro, durante un diálogo mantenido con el presidente de la República, Hugo Chávez, en el contexto del programa Aló, Presidente número 290, que se realizó este domingo en el complejo cultural Teatro Teresa Carreño, en Caracas.
Explicó que se le agregarán 30 minutos a la hora actual, por lo que al momento de levantarse, los venezolanos despertarán cuando los rayos solares ya iluminen el día.
Navarro señaló que «se trata de un efecto metabólico, donde el cerebro humano está condicionado por la luz del sol», por lo que el establecimiento del nuevo huso horario llevará a un mejor desempeño de todos los venezolanos en sus actividades de trabajo o estudio.
«Eso permitirá que los venezolanos aprovechen media hora de luz solar, ya los niños que van al colegio en la mañana no tendrán que desayunar cuando aún los rayos solares no iluminan», planteó Navarro.
Señaló que la nueva zona horaria de Venezuela será determinada por el meridiano 66 (meridiano de Río Chico), que atraviesa el territorio nacional «pasando justo por la mitad».
Navarro, además, señaló que es necesario un cambio en la Ley de Meteorología, donde aparece que Venezuela tiene cuatro horas por encima de la hora internacional, establecida por el meridiano de Greenwich (meridiano 0), para llevarla a 4,5 horas respecto a las hora de Greenwich.
