Summer time will not be reintroduced
The government is sensitive to expectations, has decided not to apply new Daylight Saving Time in October. The decision, welcomed by the population, was made taking into account the various representations and protests here and there in the country.

Le gouvernement sensible aux attentes de la population, a décidé de ne pas appliquer de nouveau l’heure d’été en octobre prochain. Cette décision, favorablement accueillie par la population, a été prise en tenant compte des différentes représentations et des protestations ça et là dans le pays.
L’application de l’heure d’été n’a pas reçu un accueil favorable par la population, ce qui a motivé la décision du gouvernement de ne pas la reconduire en octobre prochain.
Le Central Electricity Board dans son rapport fait état d’une économie de l’ordre de Rs 36,4 millions ce qui est en deçà des calculs prévisionnels qui ont été estimés à Rs 400 millions. Du côté du CEB, on affirme que c’est un test pilote pour jauger de l’implication sociale et économique de l’opération et qu’il revient au gouvernement de la réintroduire ou pas.
L’exercice ne va pas être renouvelé en octobre. Cette décision fait suite aux concertations entre le Premier ministre et le vice-Premier ministre qui fait l'écho des réactions des citoyens. Néanmoins l’économie de l’énergie est et reste le souci majeur du gouvernement s’inscrivant dans la logique de l’Ile Maurice - île Durable.
