Daylight Saving Time 2009/2010
DST will start always from the zero hour of the third Sunday of October and goes until the third Sunday in February the following year. If the date coincides with the Sunday of Carnival, the end of daylight saving time will be transferred to the next Sunday.
The 39th Summer Time (2009-2010) will begin at midnight on 18 October 2009 and will end at midnight of February 21, 2010 (Decree 6558/2008 of 08/09/2008).

THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC, in exercise of the powers conferred upon it by art. 84, item IV of the Constitution, and in view of the provisions of art. 1, item I, letter "b" and § 2 of Decree-Law 4295 of 13 May 1942
DECREES
Art is hereby created the 1st daylight, from midnight on the third Sunday of October each year, until midnight of the third Sunday in February the following year, part of the country, early in sixty minutes in relation to clock time.
Paragraph. In the year that there is a match scheduled for Sunday the end of daylight and Carnival Sunday, the closing of daylight give will be the following Sunday.
Article 2 The summer hours will apply in the states of Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, Parana, Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Espirito Santo, Minas Gerais, Goias, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul and Distrito Federal.
3rd Art This Decree shall enter into force on the date of its publication.

Horário de Verão 2009/2010
Agora, o horário de verão começará sempre a partir da zero hora do terceiro domingo de outubro e vai até o terceiro domingo de fevereiro do ano seguinte. Se a data coincidir com o domingo de Carnaval, o final do horário de verão será transferido para o próximo domingo.
A 39ª edição do Horário de Verão (2009-2010) terá início à zero hora do dia 18 de outubro de 2009 e terminará à zero hora do dia 21 de fevereiro de 2010 (Decreto 6558/2008 de 08/09/2008).

Institui a hora de verão em parte do território nacional.
O PRESIDENTE DA REPÚBLICA, no uso da atribuição que lhe confere o art. 84, inciso IV, da Constituição, e tendo em vista o disposto no art. 1o, inciso I, alínea “b”, e § 2º, do Decreto-Lei no 4.295, de 13 de maio de 1942,
DECRETA:
Art. 1o Fica instituída a hora de verão, a partir de zero hora do terceiro domingo do mês de outubro de cada ano, até zero hora do terceiro domingo do mês de fevereiro do ano subseqüente, em parte do território nacional, adiantada em sessenta minutos em relação à hora legal.
Parágrafo único. No ano em que houver coincidência entre o domingo previsto para o término da hora de verão e o domingo de carnaval, o encerramento da hora de verão dar-se-á no domingo seguinte.
Art. 2o A hora de verão vigorará nos Estados do Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, Paraná, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Espírito Santo, Minas Gerais, Goiás, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul e no Distrito Federal.
Art. 3o Este Decreto entra em vigor na data de sua publicação.
